Solar Bandits
No, they’re not from outer space — the bandits are right here on the Internet. Easier to steal than a manhole cover, burglars have caught onto a booming business by scouring hot green roofs all over California. The New York Times reports, “solar power, with its promise of emissions-free renewable energy, boasts a growing number of fans. Some of them, it turns out, are thieves.” We are sure some of them are not “fans” at all.
While it has been quiet in the past weeks since Barack Obama’s 86-year-old step-grandmother heard footsteps on her rooftop in Nairobi (read about it here), the Green thieves — or “Greensleeves” — of the world have been roof-hopping everywhere. This summer we saw the disappearance of manhole covers as the price of steel increased but we are now seeing what the Green movement has termed the “crime of the future.” The only safe haven for the panels may be at the Vatican, where the Pope can rest assured that God will be watching his newly-paneled roof.
For everyone else, if the looting becomes more agressive — and we hope it does — perhaps the Green movement will eventually swap their panels out for solar curtains or better yet, as Treehugger recommends, they might be inclined to protect their roofs with goats.

Episode 8: Re-Introducing Styrofoam Part 1
Union Square served as the perfect setting to shout through a megaphone about the marvel of expanded foam, commonly known as Styrofoam. Of course that would’ve been the case if these environmentalists knew when to wait their turn to speak.

People in Styrofoam Houses Shouldn’t Throw Stones
We cannot emphasize the greatness of Styrofoam enough. It is one of the finest materials in America with unlimited potential. It is nice to see the rest of the world taking note of our fine innovations. The Japan Dome House Co., Ltd is producing houses out of our favorite material.

Seems like it would make for a great disposable home. One thing I dislike about vacations is staying in accommodations I don’t own, so this would be a great ‘one-use’ weekend vacation home. Stay for a few days and dispose of the home. Don’t forget to pick up an extra for the kids!

Episode 7: Compost Incorporated
The Go Brown team talks to Terracycle about how they are re-using our trash to package their consumer products. While it makes us very uncomfortable to purchase new products in old re-used and likely infected packaging, we appreciate the business model employed and are sure that the executives of this corporation are enjoying profiting off the gullible “greenies”.

Episode 6: The Waste of Society
We visit Terracycle in New Jersey to investigate how they are taking waste feeding it to worms and creating a fertilizer to be sold to the masses. Worm poop. The Go Brown team was vaccinated against infections before entering as they get a little too close for comfort with the worm poop production facilities and end products. The worm defecation business has been so successful for Terracycle that they are also moving onto bigger fecal products such as Rhino and Elephant poop.
